Trekking Tour of Tibet

                      

     Tour Introduction

This Tibet tour is specially designed for those who love trekking. It's a challenge for participants , and it's a good opportunity to know the wild of Tibet. We do trekking,camping as well as enjoy remarkable views of Tibet.

 

  Day 1: Chengdu

 

Arrive Chengdu,the bustling queen city of West China and capital city of Sichuan Province. Transfer to the hotel. This evening , celebrate your arrival with a Sichuan Food dinner. As an option, a wonderful performance of Sichuan Opera will be attended.
Overnight in Chengdu(D)

     Day 2: Chengdu/Lhasa

 

Fly to the Gonggar Airport in Tibet. We'll have one hour and a half ride to Lhasa along the Yarlongtsampo River. En route, see Nethang Stone Buddha . Arrive Lhasa. Check in the hotel and take a good rest for acclimatization.

     Day 3: Lhasa

 

Sightseeing in Lhasa.
Lhasa,capital city of Tibet, is center of Tibetan politics, economy,culture and religion. With an elevation of over 12,000 feet above sea level, it is located on the northern bank of Lhasa Rvier. In Tibetan, Lhasa means"land of gods"or "holy place".
Witness the highest palace--Potala Palace complex, firstly built in 7th century A.D.. The present one was built by 5th Dalai Lama in 17th A.D.. It became the "winter palace" after the 7th Dalai Lama built Norbulingkha as summer palace.
Also see the Jolkhang Temple, built in the mid of 7th century by Tibetan King,Songtsengampo. It is the most sacred place in Tibet where pilgrims often pay homage . Explore the big free market on the Barkhor Street where tourists can buy souvenirs with good prices.
Overnight in Lhasa(BLD)

     Day 4: Lhasa/Shugala

 

Travel to Ganden Monastery , starting point of our trekking . We'll spend 5-6 hours trekking in such wonderful place. Arrive Drogpa Camp, known as the last suitable place for camping.
Tonight , camp in Shugala, a beautiful valley.(BLD)

     Day 5: Chitula

 

Today we'll spend 4--5 hours trekking from Drogpa Camp to Chitula, broad and flat meadows where the trail meets the valley are excellent campsites.
Overnight at the camping site(BLD)

     Day 6: Nyago

 

Continue our trekking from Chitula to Nyago Village via Yamalung, a well-known pilgrimage site for Buddhists' meditation . It's said that a Buddhist desciple has meditated here over twelve centuries. And, it's a sacred site where Buddhist texts were once found hundreds of years later. Also,explore some holy caves that were used for Buddhist meditation.

     Day 7: Nyago/Samye

 

Enjoy 3-hour trekking from Nyango to Samye Monastery via Wango and Dragmar. We'll cross the highest river in the world --Yarlongtsangpo River by boat to visit the first Buddhist temple in Tibet --Samey Monastery. This monastery features the mixture of architectural styles of Tibet, Han and India according to Buddhist astrology , designed by the Indian Lotus-born Master.
Camping(BLD)

     Day 8: Tsedang

 

Journey to Tsedang via Samye Ferry. See Trandruk Temple and Yumbulakhang Palace. Yumbulakhang , built by first Tibetan King--Nyatri Tsenpo , is the first palace in Tibet. Here we can get a bird's eye view of Yarlung Valley. Trandruk Temple, one of the first built temples in Tibet, was constructed by Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century. It is exceptionally noted for Tang Cards on which the image of Goddess of Mercy was made up of 29026 natural pearls.
Overnight in Tsedang(BLD)

     Day 9: Lhasa/Chengdu

 

Fly to Chengdu.Journey to Huanglongxi, an old town known as Chengdu's Hollywood. Many movies have used it as a nice backround. See old residences constructed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties along the slab-paved streets. On the walking tour , observe the daily life of local people. Cruise Luxi River with nice rural views. For our shore excursion , explore old buddhist temple and photograph a 1000-year-old cypress. As an option,cycling tour of the countryside with nice rural views.
Overnight in Chengdu(BLD)

     Day 10: Chengdu

 

See cute pandas in Chengdu Panda Eco-park and learn about pandas' breeding program. Also,tour the Old Street of Jinli, where you can enjoy coffee, tea, local snack food as well as lots of wonderful souvenirs.
Overnight in Chengdu(BLD)

     Day 11: Chengdu

 

Departure or go ahead with other trip by West China Adventures.

     What's included :

 

English-speaking guide,land transport, all meals, entrance fee, domestic air, accommodations and permit to Tibet.
